Embodying Humility

New Year Reflections

As I reflect on the New Year personally and with my coaching clients we have been examining our true nature.  The very heart of our essence is Spirit radiating through us and as us. Simultaneously each person and organization is a unique expression of this pure undifferentiated consciousness manifesting through our gifts, talents, strengths and passions with infinite variety.

Stay True to Your Highest Purpose

Embodying Humility

How do we stay true to our highest purpose? Our best self? Our soul’s contract?  Through contemplation and self-inquiry, we can examine any area of our life where we play small, are insincerely modest or sabotage ourselves.  Conversely, we can bring into our awareness any behavior or thoughts that are distorted through pride or arrogance.  When we embody true humility, we share our essence without the filter of false pride or modesty.

What is True Humility?

Embodying Humility

True humility is owning our power and living in and as an empowered human being.  The doing, our contributions and service, arises from the authentic presence and spreads blessings in the world.  We experience abundance, wholeness and that we are enough. When we have this clear perspective of ourselves, we respect each person’s place in the place of all things.  We live knowing the dignity, worthiness, and lovability of all beings. With this confidence, we invite those around us to embody their unique genius and greatness.

Nelson Mandala was a man who exemplified humility.  I was touched by his steadfast and humble honoring of his own calling throughout his lifetime and the many forms of service he accepted and offered.  I am reminded of a poem by Marianne Williamson that calls us all to live as our unique expression of spirit having a human experience:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond

measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that

most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,

gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God!

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world!

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that

other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God

that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously

give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence

automatically liberates others.
